Things I Built With Claude

October 22, 2026

I've been having too much fun with claude lately, so if you're looking for ideas here's some of the things I've been building

A remote camera shutter for my Garmin watch

file bc598f0e618341f946b277c35f0549be One of the things I missed after switching from an Apple Watch to Garmin was a remote shutter, so I could take photos while my phone is on a tripod. Now I have that on Garmin as well.

Custom apps for my Sony camera and DJI Osmo Action

Both official apps are either bad or full of bloatware. Claude reverse engineered them, or found the relevant open source repos, and built clean and minimal iOS app replacements. I can finally download RAW files from my a6400 now.

Cleaning up my TV

Like everyone else has been doing, I gave Claude access to my TV and it cleared out a ton of crap.

It also built several new APKs that talk to some of my other services, like the IP camera.

Controlling my treadmill

Apparently my home treadmill has Bluetooth with a completely open protocol, so Claude was able to access the entire controls.

My robot vacuum

Just for fun, but you can "hack" it to drive it with your arrow keys, or open source repoeven make it talk.

A custom lockscreen for my old Kindle

B519F5D5 B4A9 406C 984C DDA5F1F3BF7F It shows me random book, article and social media highlights that I've made.

I set mine up to fetch a random highlight from the screvi API and display it on the lockscreen.

You can use the same setup to display anything you'd like on an e-ink screen.

An old Android phone as an IP camera

Works great, and the quality is much better than a cheap camera. The only downside is that I don't know how safe it is for the battery to stay plugged in 100% of the time.
